Too cute

Sarah is now pulling herself up to all things that are taller than her. Yesterday she got in a fight with the toy basket. The basket won...she got scraped on her face (yes, that happened 5 minutes before we left for church). After church, she started walking around the edge of the couch. Saturday her first tooth broke through. Where is my baby? Can't I freeze time?

I love to sew lots of things...but mostly aprons! It is my new thing. Pretty much all my friends can expect an apron for their birthday for the next little while. I have hesitated posting my pictures of my finished aprons...feels too much like bragging. HOWEVER...

I have just signed up for an etsy.com account and will be launching that very soon!
So, I thought I would give everyone an idea of some of the things I will be selling. ; )

GOODBYE "GREY'S"

OK...so I have a confession. I have been addicted to Grey's Anatomy. No, not the book...the extremely soap opera-ish, morally twisted show. I know!! Almost all of the scenarios medically and otherwise are completely over dramatized and unlikely...but I was hooked. I say WAS because I just watched my DVR'd episode from last week and decided THAT'S ENOUGH!! All the sleeping around with the best friend's ex-boyfriend's neighbor turned lesbian... This chickee has canceled her DVR subscription and has sworn to not watch anymore. Not that I am judging if anyone else watches it, but as for me, no thanks. I felt especially guilty watching this last episode after feeling so uplifted from General Conference. I have been trying to return to my notes often so I am reminded of the Spirit I felt...completely opposite from how I felt finishing that LAST episode. One of my favorite "one-liners" from conference (and there were SO many good ones!) was from Elaine S. Dalton who questioned us about being "...consumers of vice rather than guardians of virtue."

This brings me to my next soap box. Proposition 8 in California. My sister's family will be directly affected by this. Perhaps it will cause a domino effect across all states. Don't get me wrong...every person in this world is a Child of God and deserves respect regardless of sexual orientation. I believe marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman that is ordained by God. LDS people in California are being scrutinized for supporting this. LDS Family services and other church-based adoption agencies could quite possibly dissolve. Gay and lesbian couples would legally have to be allowed to enroll, and that is against our belief system. It makes me crazy! As if it isn't hard enough on us couples to get a baby!! There could be fewer agencies??? (Don't even get me started on abortion and infanticide) Not to mention, LDS Family Services has parameters...you must be married for three years and be an endowed member. I am confused on how it could be discrimintaion when a homosexual couple would not endowed. AND I heard a rumor that the LDS chapels might have to take "Visitors Welcome" off their signs because gay and lesbian couples would be have to be allowed to get married in all public chapels...again going against our beliefs. Are the temples in jeapordy? I just want to know...WHEN will "the separation of church and state"actually work in our favor? No Bible talk anywhere that is public...no prayers in school (not even a moment of silence!!!)...

Again...I am reminded of General Conference. Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf is fabulous - I love him! With all the negativity and moral decay swirling around us, it is easy to be so upset...even my sister and I got into a "gloom and doom" conversation the other day. Pres. Uchtdorf tells us to, "overcome the temptation to lose hope." I am paraphrasing from my notes... but he also tells us that hope is trusting in the Lord, and to never allow despair to overcome our Spirits. Such sound advice!! No matter what happens, we all must have hope. I think I just came full circle?? I feel much better now!

Last weekend

Last weekend John and I went to Moab to participate in a 24-hour mountain biking race. It was quite an experience... We did it as a relay with our friends Brad & David. The course was a 15 mile loop through some tough terrain. My lap was at 3:00 pm and I did it in 2 hrs. John did 2 laps - 7 pm and 7 am the next day. He did the laps in about 1 hr 45 min. Our fastest laps were by Brad and David who both did it in exactly 1 hr and 26 min. (I think David was trying to beat his dad)

We camped in John's sister's tent trailer (Thanks Michele!!). Sarah May came with us...she slept in a pack and play. However, by about 2 am she got so cold that we just brought her into our sleeping bag.Friday night was incredibly windy. Sand was everywhere! We started to get a break from the wind Saturday evening...but then it got really cold. So cold that our team took about a 6 hour break during the night! I was completely ok with that! I think we all went with the right attitude...we were just going for the experience. I am not the fastest rider...but it was really cool to watch the professionals ride like maniacs. Sarah was such a good baby too! She really loves to be outside. It actually worked to our benefit to be gone for so long. She was really becoming a creature of habit...Sundays were especially hard. She now seems more flexible with where and when she sleeps. All in all, it was a memorable experience. Mostly we enjoyed hanging out with our friends, Brad, Lolly, and David. We miss them! It was nice to spend time with them! PS - LOLLY...I will e-mail these pictures and more this weekend. ; )

8 months!

Sarah May has had an eventful month...with being sealed to us and receiving her blessing...
We couldn't be happier! We love her so much!

She loves my jewelry more than any toy in her toy box.
She loves water and practically inhales it!
Not only loves to drink water, but play in it too! She LOVES bath time!
She is enthralled with hair - she will pull on her own hair if she can't find someone elses. She always pulls out her bows.
She is now crawling! (Uh-oh!) She did the "inch-worm" thing for a couple weeks and just figured out how to crawl yesterday. Never did the army crawl thing...
She is a social butterfly...loves to see what's going on. Loves to be the center of attention too.
She still loves to jump!
Still no teeth (?)
Healthy in every way! Yay!
On the first bite of baby food she makes a sour face every time!
She is really starting to notice when her mom walks away.
She is also really starting to notice when we are eating and she is not. She wants what we are having!
Loves her Daddy! Her face lights up when she sees him! If she hears his voice and can't see him, she will flip her head around looking for him.
She loves music (yes I am brainwashing her to make sure she loves it) and sometimes tries to sing back.
Loves her dog Rocky. We are pretty sure that "Rocky" will be her first word. She is always looking around for him...she will roll and roll to get closer to him. Rocky is so gentle!

Can I just say...

I love Photoshop! Thanks Marylin for taking great pictures!
I ordered these pictures in 8x10's by uploading them to Wal-Mart.com
When we went to pick them up (my mom stopped by for me), the guy didn't want to give them to her - he wanted a photographer's release!
