Cupcake party for our "little cupcake"

We celebrated Sarah's birthday last night with our family.
Poor little munchkin didn't feel great...and she missed her nap with church,
but she was a trooper.

(Thanks Brooke for letting me use your cake pan...it was a hit!!)

The kids decorated cupcakes. That was so fun! I wanted to do it too!

I think there were little angels in my house. Before I knew it, all the kid's cupcake stuff was cleaned up. AND after Sarah opened presents, the wrapping paper magically got cleaned up too. Thank you to whomever helped with that!! Of course, thanks to Marylin who snapped pix while I was running around like a crazy lady.
And a shout out to my mom and mom-in-law who helped with dishes and food, etc. Thanks so much!!
Sarah got some of the cutest gifts...cute clothes, toys, books, plate/bowl set, handmade beanies and doll clothes...such fun stuff!!

Sarah's milestones:
~She walks everywhere now (took her first steps about a month ago)
~If she hears music, she will "dance"...it's so funny! She looks like a bobble head (picture "Night at the Roxbury")
~Plays "peek-a-boo" like crazy. We say, "Where's Sarah?" She smiles and covers her eyes.
~If I say "Pattycake" or "Yay" she starts clapping her hands
~Grandma tried to teach her how to do sign language for "more." She claps her hands twice...close, but not quite.
~Sleeps like a champ. 6:30pm to 6:30 am
~She says love you, buh-bye, momma, dadda, hi, ny ny (night night)
~She is finally cuddling! It's so cute. She will bury her head on our shoulders.
~Loves to eat just about anything now, except bananas. I think John passed that on. ;)
~I really try to read her books every night, but she just can't sit still long enough
~Sometimes I forget and leave her wet diaper on her changing table. If she sees it before I do, she will get it and hand it to me
~She doesn't really respond to discipline (any ideas?) She just looks at us and continues to do what she is doing. I try not to laugh...
~She's a tough girl. If she falls or gets hurt, I try to wait to see her reaction before I freak out. Example: she is always closing her fingers in the drawers/cabinets. She doesn't cry, she just makes a noise to get my attention to come help her.
~Still waves at everyone. Still hates bows.
~Loves to look out the window at the dog

~Makes my heart smile every single day! Love that little girl!

PS-I made her some Baby Legs for Valentine's Day. They normally cost about $12 to buy, but it cost me $6 to make 3 pairs of them! So fun and easy to make. The tutorial on how to make them is here.

How did this happen?

How did my sweet baby go from this.... to this in the blink of an eye?? Stop growing dangit!! It seems like it was just a couple of weeks ago we got the call to go see our baby in the hospital. The nurses kept congratulating us as "Mom and Dad." We were very guarded - it was hard to believe it was finally happening. I love to think of those days... the days just before we found out about her, and the days that followed. We feel so blessed to be her parents.

Happy 1st Birthday Sarah May!!
(coincidentally, John and I had our first date on Friday, Feb. 13 in 1998!)

I will post more pictures after we have our family dinner/party.

She's on the move!

Sarah May started taking steps about a month ago...AND
now she is walking across the room. Here we go!
She can't quite stand on her own yet, she needs to pull herself up on the couch or something...but she is walking 10-15 steps!
She loves to get into the cupboards now...I guess she has for a while, but now she does it more often. She thinks she is a big girl! So cute!

Hard to believe she is almost a year old!!
